BCBUU Hosts Presentation Contest on UN Sustainable Development Goals in Action
To broaden students’ global perspectives, strengthen their social responsibility, and amplify the college’s societal impact, the Accreditation Office, Student Affairs Office, and Youth League Committee jointly organized the “UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) BCBUU in Action” presentation contest. Within one week, over a dozen innovative proposals were submitted. Dr. Zhao Shaoquan and Dr. Pan Yuejie from the Department of International Business provided expert guidance on refining action plans to meet design specifications. Ultimately, eight teams advanced to the final round, which took place on December 11 and drew an audience of more than 60 students.
Opening Remarks Highlight Vision and Impact
Mr. Zhao Fang, Vice Chair of the College Council, delivered the opening speech, commending the event with three key strengths:
Conceptual Excellence: The theme successfully engaged students with global sustainability issues, fostering a sense of social responsibility.
Organizational Excellence: Meticulous planning ensured creative content and formats, showcasing high innovation.
Future-Oriented Vision: The college will build on this initiative, refining strategies to establish distinctive societal impact programs.
Action Plans Aligned with UNSDGs
Participating teams developed actionable, sustainable proposals aligned with the 17 UNSDGs, focusing on poverty eradication, health improvement, water conservation, and sustainable consumption. By integrating academic expertise with campus community needs, the teams presented practical solutions. After rigorous evaluation, six teams secured first, second, and third prizes, while two received Excellence Awards.
Closing Reflections and Future Commitments
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Zhai Jing, Director of the College Executive Office, emphasized that the contest transformed the “sustainable development concept” from a slogan into tangible action. “This marks a new beginning for BCBUU students to champion social responsibility and shape a better future through concrete efforts,” she stated.
AACSB-Aligned Societal Impact Strategy
Guided by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) principles, this event reflects the college’s commitment to fostering student engagement in societal development, driving innovation in daily life, and cultivating a unique impact strategy. Moving forward, the college will support the implementation of winning proposals to ensure lasting contributions to sustainability.
