BCBUU Holds AACSB Supported Societal Impact Seminar
In order to further deepen the understanding and implementation of the new AACSB 2020 standard, on the morning of October 13, Dr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President of AACSB, and Mr. Xu Guodong, Regional Head of AACSB East Asia, were invited to BCBUU to conduct a customized seminar on "Societal Impact". More than 40 administrative, faculty and staff members participated in the seminar. The meeting was chaired by Executive Dean Chen Jianbin.
Dr. Geoff Perry
As a participant in the development of the AACSB 2020 standard, Dr. Geoff Perry interpreted the "societal impact" assessment of business schools at the conceptual, logical, and methodological levels, and guided the College on how to further focus on key areas that align with its mission, create business practice-based knowledge, and effect positive social change. The seminar shifted between standard analysis and group discussions, enhancing the understanding of strategic management methods for business schools to create a distinctive impact. This included focusing on specific areas, developing strategies, enhancing the curriculum, fostering research, and engaging with society. The participants were actively involved in the discussion and exchange, the atmosphere of the room was warm, and the discussion was in English, in line with the international atmosphere.

The most significant change in the new version of the AACSB standard is the introduction of the Societal Impact Assessment of Business Schools, which is intended to guide business schools to pay attention to the substantive impact on economic and social development, not just to periodic performance. It has a significant catalytic effect on business schools in terms of the strengthening of mission-driven, meaningful development and the promotion of social progress.
On-site exchange and discussion
After obtaining the AACSB initial accreditation in July 2022, BCBUU does not forget its original intention. Taking it as a new starting point, it will continue to combine AACSB international paradigms and best practices with its own advantages and characteristics to promote quality development, including the level of discipline construction and the quality of talent training, and finally achieve its goal of building an international boutique business school that is well received by the industry, and becomes an indispensable and important force in Beijing's economic and social development. To this end, the College has launched a new round of AACSB accreditation standard learning, training and seminars, in order to further grasp the meaning and essence of the new version of the standard, build consensus, complete the work of maintaining accreditation with high quality, and solidly promote the realization of the College's strategic goals.
