BCBUU Holds Academic Forum on ESG and Sustainable Development
Recently, the School of Business successfully held an academic forum on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainable development. The forum is co-sponsored by the Social Innovation and Green Development Research Center (SIGDRC) of Beijing Union University, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Collaborative and Metropolitan Area Development Research Center (CMADRC), and the Beijing Free Trade Zone Collaborative Innovation Research Center (CIRC), and supported by the Scientific Research Office of BCBUU.
The purpose of this forum is to understand the research around you, explore future cooperation, and produce high-quality results. It is hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation within the College and promote the vigorous development of featured research fields. The forum was presided over by Vice Dean Cui Jing. Professor Cui Wei, Associate Professor Chen Hua, Professor Liu Jie and Associate Professor Xu Feng shared their latest research results at the forum, and Executive Dean Chen Jianbin delivered a speech.
Dean Chen Jianbin declared that this forum was an important academic activity of the college during the campus culture festival, and SIGDRC, as an important carrier of scientific and technological innovation system and discipline construction, played a significant role in strengthening cooperation, resource sharing, promoting discipline construction and development, and accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. In the future, BCBUU will give better play to the leading role of SIGDRC in strategically organized scientific research for the College.
Associate Professor Chen Hua shared her report titled "Research on Factors Affecting Carbon Performance of Enterprises in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region", demonstrating factors affecting carbon performance of listed companies in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region under multiple regression analysis, gray correlation analysis, QCA configuration analysis and other methods Results. The report is part of the research results of the Beijing Social Science Fund project "Research on the Carbon Compensation Mechanism and Path of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Based on Enterprise Carbon Performance Evaluation". It had been exchanged and discussed at the academic conference "Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Audit and Audit Theory Innovation" hosted by the Chinese Government Audit Research Center of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.
Professor Cui Wei, director of the CIRC of the Beijing Free Trade Zone, summarized her project "Comparative Research on the Opening and Development of Beijing and World Cities", which was commissioned by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce. The project conducts an in-depth and systematic comparative study of Beijing and six representative world cities including New York, London, and Tokyo from multiple dimensions such as economic and business indicators, business policies, open policies and open indicators, and business activities. After analyzing the existing gap between Beijing and the other cities and drawing on the development experience of world cities, it puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to enhance Beijing's comprehensive competitiveness and promote Beijing's high-quality open development. This project was obtained by Professor Cui Wei's team in an open competition. With arduous multi-language data collection, this high-quality research report of more than 100,000 words was completed in a short period of time, and was highly praised by the leaders of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce. It is a typical practice of BCBUU’s mission to support regional development.
Professor Liu Jie, director of CMADRC, shared her research results on "Barriers to Rational Population Distribution in the Capital Metropolitan Area Based on the Comparison of Census Data". The metropolitan area is the main support for the high-quality development of China's urban agglomerations. Whether the spatial distribution of the population in the metropolitan area is reasonable is an important indicator of the high-quality development of the metropolitan area. By comparing the data of the last two censuses, it is found that the balance of population-economy distribution in the capital metropolitan area still needs to be improved, and the dilemma of population structure-economic development-city cooperation is prominent. This is mainly due to the fact that there are three barriers in the driving mechanism of population gathering and dispersing in the capital metropolitan area: administrative barriers, planning barriers and development barriers. Therefore, it is urgent to strengthen top-level design through the means of metropolitan area spatial collaborative planning, and break down administrative barriers and planning barriers; It also suggested to accelerate the construction of urban sub-centers and Xiongan New Area, improve the comprehensive carrying capacity of new city in flat land, and cultivate new urban growth poles; With the goal of equalization of public services that could break through the obstacles to development and multiple measures, the triple barriers can be overcome.
The research result was published in the 4th issue of "China Economic Report" in 2022. In August 2022, Professor Liu Jie gave a speech at the seminar of "Promoting Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into Institutions" sponsored by the Publicity Department of the Shijingshan District Party Committee and the District Development and Reform Commission.
Associate Professor Xu Feng reported her "Research on Beijing-Taiwan Industrial Cooperation", reflecting on the current situation of Beijing-Taiwan industrial cooperation with the focus on key areas of Beijing-Taiwan industrial cooperation (including technical standards in the fields of cultural creativity, modern agriculture, technology industry, and Internet communication industry) cooperation). This research result was circulated through the participation of the lecture tour to Jiangxi Province of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in April 2019, and the "Symposium on the Theory and Practice of Cross-Strait Economic Integration and Development" in October 2019.
ESG and sustainable development is a feature research field of BCBUU. In recent years, there have been more than 20 research projects across disciplines, including ESG information disclosure, corporate social responsibility, corporate digital transformation and platform governance, green economy, sustainable development of industry and cities, etc. All of the three university-level research centers of BCBUU demonstrated their research foundation and momentum in this direction. Such a small and beautiful forum exchange is not only a review and showcase of existing achievements, but also an expansion of faculty research visions. It is expected to open up ideas for future cooperation and innovation, and provide strong support for the high-quality research development of the college.
