BCBUU Successfully Completed Its First Summer Semester
In order to implement the internationalization strategy in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the college, broaden students' international horizons, and deepen students' understanding of the frontiers of global business theory and practice, BCBUU launched a two-week international teaching program---"Global Business Frontier Exploration I " in the summer 2023. On the basis of fully listening to the opinions and suggestions of faculty and students, the college has researched and formulated a detailed implementation plan, built a high-quality instruction team, carefully selected the teaching content, and ingeniously designed the teaching process. Diversified learning activities including lectures, seminars, sand table practice and study tours are adopted in the program, aiming to achieve the design goal of cultivating the future core talent of the business community by immersing students in lectures by business leaders, zero-distance contact with famous international enterprises, and first-hand experience of the global business atmosphere.
On July 6, the inauguration of the program was officially held on campus. Chen Jianbin, the executive dean, Zheng Li, the vice dean, together with the Head of Academic Affairs Office and Student Office, and Dr. Pan Yuejie, Head of the Instruction Team, as well as 24 students selected from various majors attended the opening ceremony. In his opening speech, Dean Chen Jianbin encouraged the students to take this opportunity to learn knowledge, increase their talents, and cultivate an international vision, and expected the students to come up with valuable results. Zheng Li introduced the origin and design process of the project, and Dr. Pan Yuejie disclosed the overall arrangement of the program.
International Summer Semester Inauguration
The International Summer Semester is mainly composed of three aspects: theme lectures, study tours in Beijing, and investigation trips outside Beijing. In the on-campus theme lectures, the instruction team hired famous scholars and business management elites from well-known universities and enterprises at home and abroad, including the University of New Mexico, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, University of International Business and Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics, China Light Industry Enterprise Investment Development Association, Dow Chemical Company, China Vanguard Financial Group, Guolian Securities. They presented students a total of 11 lectures on cutting-edge topics, providing them an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the latest developments in the frontier fields of global business, international trade, green development, finance and information technology. Participants in the lecture broadened their horizons and enhanced their understanding of global economic development by listening to the insights of experts. In addition, the lecture also provides opportunities for the students to communicate with industry experts, provides inspiration for their future development, and will have a positive impact on the students' future learning and development.
Experts and scholars lectures
During their study in Beijing, the students walked into the Xiaomi Science and Technology Park, visited the Xiaomi Home Global Headquarters Store, related ecological chain products, Xiaomi Smart Home Experience Area and Xiaomi Park, experiencing how artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things change life. More importantly, they got an understanding of Xiaomi's ecological strategy and the Internet marketing thinking characterized by "focus, extreme, word-of-mouth, and fast". In the African Cultural Tourism Center, the students saw African works of art, finding the cultural differences between China and Africa, and appreciating the exotic customs. In the China Numismatic Museum, faculty and students stepped into the long river of history, observing the currencies of various dynasties and periods at close range, and learned about the development history of China's financial industry.
Study tours in Beijing
During the investigation activities outside Beijing, the students visited Haier Home Appliance Museum, Tsingtao Brewery, and Red Collar Group in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The Qingdao investigation activities not only improved the students' professional literacy, but also cultivated their practical ability and teamwork spirit. In the process of receiving professional lectures and field visits, the students experienced the charm and challenges of business management, broadened their horizons, and stimulated their enthusiasm and confidence in their future careers.

Xu Feifei, an International Business major of freshman Class 2021, said: “During the two-week learning process, we had the opportunity to communicate with famous professors and experts in various industries, learn frontier knowledge in various fields in depth, and gain a lot. It helped me fully realize the importance for International Business professionals to have broad foreign language skills, new business knowledge and cross-border thinking, and constantly learn and adapt to market changes.” Fan Yingdian, an International Economics and Trade major enrolled in 2021, believes that the international Summer Semester not only improve our professional quality, but also cultivate our practical ability and teamwork spirit. In the process of receiving professional lectures and field visits, we have experienced business charm and challenges of management have broadened our horizons and stimulated our enthusiasm and confidence in our future careers. Asmudula Tursun, an International Finance major of freshman class of 2020, believes that through International Summer Semester learning, we fully realize that financial professionals need to have broad knowledge and cross-border thinking, and constantly learn and adapt to the market. At the same time, we are aware that only by strengthening our interaction with enterprises and experts and increasing practical experience can we better cope with future challenges and opportunities. We will take this learning experience as an opportunity to further improve our ability and make ourselves a mature compound and comprehensive talent.
As the first pilot of the BCBUU International Summer Semester Program, "Global Business Frontier Exploration 1" made a successful start. In the future, BCBUU will adhere to AACSB's "mission-driven, continuous improvement" ideas and carry out more in-depth practical innovation in talent training that promote student success.
