BCBUU Holds Series of Academic Events on Regional Economy, Case Teaching and AI
November 21 — Lecture on Development and Use of Micro-Cases
The college case center organized a lecture on “Development and Application of Micro-Cases” in a smart classroom. Associate Professor Xu Jingyue from Renmin University’s Business School, who directs its case center and contributed to the draft standards for Chinese-characteristic cases under the Ministry of Education, introduced the micro-case model for business teaching—concise, focused and adapted to Chinese classrooms—together with case types, development procedures and class applications. Vice Dean Guo Yanli presided over the event, which involved faculty and graduate students and included discussion on AI-assisted case writing, corporate interviews, topic selection and information triangulation.
Late November — BUU Scholars at 2025 China–Korea Economic Development Forum
BUU Business College joined the 2025 China–Korea Economic Development Forum in Jeju, South Korea, co-hosted by Korean and Chinese universities and research institutes under the theme “Restructuring the Global Economic Order: Asia-Pacific Challenges and Opportunities.” Professor Jiang Jingjing, dean of the college, and Professor Guo Yanli, vice dean, together with Professor Liang Rui, director of the digital-economy program, served as panel moderators. Dean Jiang led discussions on Asia-Pacific financial linkage and stablecoin regulation, offering views on regional financial governance. On the sidelines, the college reached preliminary agreement with the Institute of Han–China Economic Development at Kyonggi University on joint China–Korea economic-research projects and faculty-student exchange. As an AACSB member, the college positioned the forum as part of its broader international engagement.
November 28 — Academic Exchange on AI-Enabled Macroeconomics
The college’s “New Voyage” frontier research initiative hosted an exchange on “AI-Enabled Macroeconomics.” Professor Liang Rui moderated the event, which brought together faculty, 2025-entry graduate students and undergraduates. Associate Professor Li Bo of Peking University’s School of Economics presented advances in agent-based macroeconomic modeling, high-dimensional model solving and economic simulation, proposing an “agent plus intelligent algorithm” approach to overcome limits of traditional macro models and support policy evaluation. The interactive session covered algorithm implementation, multi-agent modeling details and the credibility of policy simulation.
Taken together, these events reflect the college’s recent push across four directions: region-and-country studies on Belt and Road economies, innovation in business-case teaching, institutional exchange with Northeast Asian partners, and interdisciplinary work on artificial intelligence and macroeconomics. By combining expert lectures, faculty–student workshops and international forums, the college is building a more practice-oriented and globally connected research and teaching platform.
